Updates and New Software from Curtis Manwaring
http://astrology-x-files.com/
The Delphic Oracle 8 & 9
$149
The Delphic Oracle is the foremost Hellenistic astrology program for Windows (and for Macs running Windows). I I first reviewed version 7.0 in the December 2013/January 2014 issue of The Mountain Astrologer (see below). Since that review, Mr. Manwaring has decided to cut the price in half so that more astrologers can afford his software.
The major advances in versions 8 and 9 are visual in nature. The TerraChron 4D/HD is a beautiful Astro*Carto*Graphy module depicting the Earth in 3D with greater accuracy than other astromaps. It offers animation, zooming, rotation, and magnification, And has the unique ability to indicate the current Time Lords on the map, and their relative intensities.
Version 9 of the Delphic Oracle has been completely redesigned. All of the graphics, including the Time Wheels screens in version 9 have much greater resolution and are much more customizable, and there is now a wheel wizard that can guide you in creating your own chart designs.
Another very useful addition are several YouTube videos demostrating how to use the program effectively.
Note: the Delphic Oracle comes complete with the Terran Atlas built-in, and Timaeus.
The recent improvements are "icing on the cake" of a truly phenomenal astrology program. Well done!
The Delphic Oracle Astrology Software v. 7.0
by Curtis Manwaring

Curtis Manwaring has pioneered software for Traditional Astrology since the second Project Hindsight conference. His Delphic Oracle software is the most powerful program for Hellenistic and Medieval astrology, and runs on both Mac and Windows PCs. It's bundled with both Timaeus, which I reviewed in the February/March 2013 issue of TMA, and the Terran Atlas (with time zones/changes for over 13 million locations). The program can import chart files from most other astrology programs (via the Quick*Chart format).
The Delphic Oracle offers extensive Dignities and Almuten Figurae tables, square and round chart wheels, Hellenistic and Modern Solar Revolution charts, and listings of Firdariyyah cycles, decanates & faces, dodekatamoeria, aspects and testimony, asteroid and Fixed Stars, planetary speed, Heliacal Phenomena, Valens Lot Eminence Indicators, and over 160 Hellenistic Lots.
Its Primary Directions, based upon the work of Martin Gansten, includes many Primary Directions Options and themes, grouped according to historic usage (to help novices choose the correct method). Delphic Oracle calculates Primary Directions for the Fixed Stars which can be filtered by latitude, declination, magnitude, or a combination of these
The Delphic Oracle is very customizable. You can specify which Hellenistic and Medieval methods to use for every technique. E.g., there are hundreds of options for calculating Time Lords. You can customize the colors of chart factors (decans, points, lots, etc.), and can select different "skins" to change the color scheme of the program. It also has a very powerful Chart Designer, enabling you to completely design chart wheels to your own specs.
Version 7 of the Delphic Oracle has stunning capabilities. While viewing a Time Lord Graph,(or any of the above-mentioned listings) on the right half of the screen, you can see a Delphic Oracle chart wheel on the left. The Time Lord Graph and the lists are"live", i.e. if you click on any place in the graph or listing, you immediately see the chart wheel for the moment in time clicked upon. This is incredibly outstanding!
You can select which predictive methods to use in the Time Lord Graph from over 80 choices, including Decennials, Lunar Quarters, Zodiac Releasings, Circumambulations, Profections, Monomoiria, Balbillus, Annual Divisions, the 129 Year System, and 9 Years of the Moon, and can save different sets for different purposes.
This is enhanced further by Delphic Oracle's capacity to create custom chart wheels with as many as 5 rings, such as Secondary and Tertiary Progressed, Transit, and Solar Arc Directed, as well as a choice of various Profected and Zodiacal Releasing points to the central natal chart.
I love how the Delphic Oracle chart wheel can display the Fixed Stars (and asteroids and additional points) precisely placed above and below the ecliptic.
There's a graphic ephemeris showing Heliacal & Acronical settings and risings and has line breaks when there are curtailed passages or planets under the beams.
Another truly groundbreaking feature is the great set of transit interpretations. Unlike all other astrology programs, Delphic Oracle gives different delineations based upon which houses the transited planet rules.
Finally, Delphic Oracle has wizards for the System of Hermes, using a nautical theme – e.g. who's the captain of your ship – as an analogy for the role of different planets in the chart. The wizards help you evaluate each planet for its role, and there's a Natal Analysis wizard which presents all of the qualities of each of the planets.
The Delphic Oracle is the gold standard of Traditional Astrology programs, far and away more powerful and better designed than any other software. If you wish to explore Hellenistic and Medieval techniques, the Delphic Oracle is a priceless resource.
Timaeus 9 Pro
$59.95
Timaeus is a system tray application that alerts you to changes to the current rising sign, planetary hour, and other astrological events. I first reviewed Timaeus 8 in the February/March 2013 issue of The Mountain Astrologer.
In the new version, virtually all of the features in Delphic Oracle 7 (with the exception of the "System of Hermes" functions have been added to Timaeus. Timaeus can also monitor natal charts, finding transits and various types of progressions to natal positions, and give interpretations in what could be called an advanced daily horoscope
Both programs can now share files, and you can click on the Timaeus system tray icon at any moment and view its chart in the Delphic Oracle.
The Terran Atlas
$49
The Terran Atlas a standalone program that runs on Mac computers (running OS 10.11 and higher) and Windows PCs. It is largest time-change atlas in existence, with over 13 million places built-in, including mountains, lakes, forests, and deserts and dams, cemeteries, parks, and churches!
It is based upon three different databases: Geonames, Maxmind, and the author's own personal database, and can use wildcards (e.g. Ora* for all places beginning with ora) to find locations.
This atlas is a great boon to astrologers worldwide.
