Free Janus 3.0 Update

I am happy to announce that Janus 3.0 now has improved accuracy for planetary positions for ancient dates. The update achieves this greater precision by using the CCRS'98 algorithms instead of the less precise CCRS'92 algorithms. Click here for the free Janus 3.0 update

The New Jyotish Studio 3.0

Dancing Moon, Inc. has just about completed work on the latest version of Goravani Jyotish, now to be called Jyotish Studio 3.0. It will run under Windows (95 through XP) and the Mac, and will retail for his previous price of $295.

The software is a very major upgrade -- years in the making. Over half of the program has been re-written and recompiled in C, to run much faster. The user-interface is also completely new, and obeys all standard Windows conventions (e.g. right-click options, resizeable windows, remembers last windows size and position, multiple windows and charts open at once, etc.).

Each major type of function can now be in its own window, e.g. a separate window for charts, for shad bala tables, for Varshaphal, etc. You can arrange the windows on your screen any way you want, and save the placements as a style to re-use at any time. You have complete control over colors throughout the program, as well as the ability to add backgrounds to charts (e.g. Spanish tile, fades, stained glass), and create beautiful artistic chart wheels.

The program allows you to enter a set of important dates/events for each chart, and can integrate this event list with your dasha listing. Dasas can be viewed at up to 8 levels, you can merge different dasa methods into one list, and also merge different people's dasas into one list. Parashari Conditional Dasas have also been added.

One great new strength is a built-in classical Vedic book collection, including BPHS, Saravali, Jaimini Sutras, Muhurta Chintamani, Jataka Parijata, Laghu Parashari Siddhant, and a couple of other texts. This set of books can be searched with Boolean searches (this AND that), multi word searches, and more.

The research tools are also much more powerful. Instead of being limited to searching 20 charts for factors at a time, you can now search hundreds of charts at lightning speed for the factors you're interested in.

Right-clicking on a planet wil pop-up an options window that allows you to see the attributes of the planet, read interpretations for the planet, and more. You have complete control of what symbol or image is used to represent each point.

The president and programmer of Dancing Moon, Inc., Das Goravani has detailed many more features than I can cover in this brief first look. I can't wait to receive the forthcoming beta test version. Jyotish Studio promises to be a beautiful and powerful Vedic program.
